CWCN Workshop: Creating Habitat for Small Birds, for Frogs

Location: CWCN Centre, 47 Hepworth St, Chapel Hill (UBD 178 A11)
Type: Workshop
Organiser: Cubberla-Witton Catchments Network Inc
Contact: Ring Jutta on 0407 583 441 or email education@cwcn.org.au

This is the tenth and last workshop in CWCN’s current biodiversity series and it will be of particular relevance to all rehabilitators. Through rehabilitation work in bushland, along waterways and in our gardens we can support habitat needs by creating structures, organising/establishing plant communities and by connecting habitat. Dr Phil Bird/Queensland Frog Society will talk about our amphibian friends, their needs and how to create habitat for them, while Jutta Godwin/Cubberla-Witton Catchments Network will provide information about the smallest members of our avian community. This is a free workshop. For catering and other organisational purposes it is important for you to register. The registration form can be found here.

One of CWCN's younger rehabilitation sites, the vicinity to Mount Coot-tha (despite interruptions through the Western Freeway) allows for medium to larger birds to move back and forth. Smaller birds have the advantage of connected green space West of the Freeway. Has the rehabilitation succeeded just yet in protecting small native birds from domestic animals and foxes? Come and find out!

Another favourite birding place! The lagoon promises lots of waterfowl. The vegetation along the Brisbane River parallel to the Equestrian Centre and towards Mactier St is usually alive with small birds. The odd bird of prey exploring the area might be seen too. or more info, download the flyer:
